Advance for Physical Therapists & PT Assistants
January 24, 2008
One of the most devastating injuries causing long-term impairment is a traumatic spinal cord injury at a high neurological level with concomitant traumatic brain injury. This case study by Kessler therapists Barbara Garrett, PT, Jill Garcia, MS, OTR, Cindy Nead, COTA, and Rena Ranieri, MS, CCC-SLP outlines the course of physical, occupational and speech therapy as a component of inpatient interdisciplinary rehabilitation for this patient, a 24-year-old who sustained a spinal cord injury at the Cl level resulting in complete tetraplegia.
