Jeffrey L. Cole, M.D.
Dr. Jeffrey Cole is nationally recognized for his work in the field of musculoskeletal medicine. He specializes in electrodiagnostic (EMG, NCS, SsEP) medicine, interventional pain management, headache care, neuropathic conditions, sports injuries, pelvic floor dysfunction, lymphedema care, and cancer pain management.
Dr. Cole received his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico, and completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, followed by a fellowship in electrodiagnostic medicine. He is board certified in this specialty and has additional sub-specialty certification in pain management. He also holds appointment at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY.
In 2005, Dr. Cole joined Kessler Institute as Director of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation. His broad and dynamic background allows him to cover a wide variety of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal pain problems. In addition to his responsibilities in this area, he helps patients manage pain with various interventional treatments, prescribed rehabilitation services, and medication.
Prior to joining Kessler, Dr. Cole, who has a background in electrical engineering, worked for NASA as a systems engineer on the Apollo Lunar Module Project. In this critical position, he analyzed and evaluated flight and ground test data. During the Apollo flights, he advised the flight controller on mission contingencies and vehicle capabilities.
Dr. Cole has published numerous articles in prestigious medical journals and has written various chapters on the field of electrodiagnostics for physical medicine & rehabilitation, plastic surgery, and gastrointestinal medical textbooks. He is a recognized national and international lecturer on electrodiagnostic medicine and pain management and teaches pharmacology at NYCOM in New York.
He received a “Declaration of Honor” from the former Queens Borough (NY) president in 1994 in recognition of his many civic activities and efforts in traffic safety education for the residents of Queens County. In addition, Dr. Cole has been named a “Best Doctor” in New York magazine’s annual survey and is similarly recognized in the book, Top Doctors: New York Metro Area, published by Castle Connolly.
Dr. Cole is active in a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Medical Association and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
