Across the Continuum: Caring for Individuals Post Stroke
This introduction course provides PT/PTA, OT/OTA, and SLP with an understanding of patient care across the continuum is a vital aspect of being a successful clinician. This introductory course emphasizes care of the stroke survivor from acute care to outpatient care. This course reviews specific areas of interest in each setting including principles of neuroplasticity, cognition, and emerging technologies. Therapists have the option to choose additional topics of interest including vision, communication and resuming community roles. The course highlights clinical reasoning, treatment ideas, and patient/family education. Discussion on how this information can be applied to advance and add consistency to clinical practices across the continuum is emphasized.
