Kessler Institute again named one the nation’s best rehabilitation hospitals by U.S. News & World Report
West Orange, N.J. - Kessler Institute has again been ranked the no. 4 hospital for rehabilitation in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. This marks the 28th consecutive year that Kessler Institute has been named to the prestigious "Best Hospitals" list.
"We are both proud and humbled that Kessler continues to be recognized as one of the very best rehabilitation hospitals in the country," said Sue Kida, president, Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. "This is testimony to our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of safe, quality care to individuals with complex injuries and illnesses. It also reflects not only the scope of our services, but also the trust we have earned from patients, families and our colleagues in this field."
This year's rehabilitation hospital rankings are based on a new methodology that combines outcomes measures, including 30-day readmission rates, acute care transfers and discharge data; key metrics, such as patient volume and the scope of services and technologies offered; and reputation scores culled from a survey of board-certified physiatrists who indicated where they would send their most complex patients for rehabilitation.
"To be ranked fourth among the more than 1,100 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and units in the country is profound acknowledgement of Kessler Institute's leadership in patient care, as well as in research, education and patient advocacy," added Dr. Steven Kirshblum, chief medical officer.
Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, in collaboration with Kessler Foundation, is one of only seven federally-designated Model Systems in the nation for the treatment and research of both traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. The hospital also provides innovative care to individuals with stroke, neurologic diseases, amputation, orthopedic trauma, cancer, cardiac and other disabling conditions.
Kessler Institute has four hospital campuses in West Orange, Saddle Brook, Chester and Marlton, New Jersey, and more than 95 outpatient Kessler Rehabilitation Center locations throughout the state.
