Dr. Linsenmeyer specializes in urology, spinal cord injury and other neurologic conditions

Dr. Todd Linsenmeyer, director of urology services, specializes in the evaluation and management of voiding dysfunction, including urinary incontinence and retention resulting from a neurogenic bladder – common in patients with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke and neurologic diseases. He provides a wide range of procedures, including urodynamics, biofeedback, cystoscopy, botulin injections into the sphincter, and services related to the prevention of urinary tract infections, male infertility and sexual dysfunction. He also oversees Kessler’s urology program for adults with spina bifida.

Dr. Linsenmeyer is triple-board certified in urology, physical medicine and rehabilitation and spinal cord injury medicine and is a professor in both the Department of Surgery - Division of Urology and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

He is active in several professional organizations, including American Paraplegia Society, American Spinal Cord Injury Association and Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Spinal Cord Research Foundation. He chaired the development of PVA-sponsored guidelines for bladder management and autonomic dysreflexia (the sudden onset of excessively high blood pressure following spinal cord injury), now used by over 24 countries.

A prolific writer and lecturer, Dr. Linsenmeyer has published numerous articles, abstracts and book chapters, is a peer reviewer for several professional journals and serves the urology section editor for the Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine. He has also written a comprehensive consumer guide on bladder management following spinal cord injury.

Consistently recognized among the top physicians in his field by independent organizations, Dr. Linsenmeyer has received numerous national awards and honors for his clinical work and scientific research, including the Henry H. Kessler, M.D. Award for Medical Excellence.

Dr. Linsenmeyer earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and completed a residency in urology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. He completed a second residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Stanford University in California. He joined Kessler Institute in 1990.
