This intermediate course provides an overview of many skills needed to optimize the rehabilitation process and prepare individuals impacted by a spinal cord injury for reintegration back into their community. The course will cover seating and positioning techniques, advanced skills such as car transfers, integrating assistive technology and electronic aids to daily living, as well as shoulder preservation. A break-out session for PTs and OTs will allow for in depth coverage of discipline specific skills. In the session, PTs will learn about advanced mobility and gait techniques and OTs will learn about strategies for lower body dressing and self-cathing. Through didactic presentation, live video and recorded video demonstrations, participants will be provided with specific strategies and step by step instructions for implementing these skills in their practice setting.
