Dr. Nieves specializes in spinal cord injury, brain injury and stroke rehabilitation
Dr. Jeremiah Nieves is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He focuses on the care and treatment of individuals with spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury and stroke in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. He also serves as a clinical instructor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
Dr. Nieves’ research interests include pressure ulcers in full-time wheelchair users and the use of electromyography (EMG) in spinal cord injury. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented on these and other topics at national conferences, such as the American College of Sports Medicine. He is a member of the Association of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, New Jersey Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and American College of Sports Medicine.
In addition to being recognized among the top doctors in his field by New Jersey Magazine and other publications, Dr. Nieves received the Henry H. Kessler Award for Medical Excellence for his outstanding work.
A graduate of Emory University, Dr. Nieves earned a medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (formerly the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he also completed an internship in internal medicine, a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation and a fellowship in spinal cord injury medicine.
